Hudson Lake Healing Camp

We are a treatment facility, treating clients who suffer from the devastating effects of addiction. Our location: 20 miles outside of Copper Center. We use snow machines and 4 wheelers for transportation. However certain times of year we use a float plane because of bad trail conditions.

Hudson Lake Healing Camp is a 40 day program. We offer year round treatment in a serene environment. We have three cabins available for clients and two for staff members, a community hall, outhouses, a steam bath and a work shop. Usually there are about 8 clients in treatment at one time. Our small numbers allow for a more intimate healing experience, and more one on one time with counselors.

 Treatment includes:

10 day detox period, Treatment planning and Discharge summary. There are educational lectures about anger, the grief process, historical trauma and generational grief issues. Clients learn about the disease of addiction, relapse prevention, and about healthy development of people, families, and relationships. Treatment plans are tailored to fit the needs of each client.

Clients use the Talking Circle on a daily basis as a way to share there personal feelings without feedback or cross talk. There is also a Traditional Athabascan Steam House for those who wish to take part. Clients learn a healthy way to express feelings, grow spiritually, and bring self respect back into their lives.

Clients learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning, harvesting wood and water, and providing whatever needs the camp might have. They learn about being responsible to themselves and others, as well as the good feelings of doing a good job. They learn to give of themselves. All outdoor activities are supervised by our camp Maintenance technician.

At Hudson Lake, clients and staff develop a strong family like bond where we laugh together, grieve together, work together, share food together, and pray together.

Hudson Lake can be used for other functions as well, such as business retreats, family gatherings, and other business or personal activities.
